Depth of field refers to the area within an image that appears to be in focus. Similarly, the closer the object is to the camera, the shallower the depth of field will be, while a subject further away will increase the depth of field. Lastly, longer focus length lenses tend to have shallower depth of field than shorter focal length lenses.
